Temporary Policy Change for Supplier Price Change Requests for Premium Wine Products

To our Agents and Suppliers,

The Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is making changes to its current policy on supplier wholesale price change requests in order to support agents and suppliers as they deal with unprecedented business impacts related to COVID-19.

As of April 17, 2020, import and domestic agents and suppliers can decrease the duty paid cost on premium wine products at any rate provided the new wholesale price does not fall below the minimum wholesale price of $5.30/litre. Agents and suppliers may discount their product by any rate and will not be limited to the 30% reduction permitted under the current policy. Premium wine products include import and domestic wine that has a duty paid cost per litre greater than $11.75.

The temporary policy will be in place between June – August 2020, Period 3, 4 and 5. The LDB will review the policy change in early July; any changes resulting from the review will be communicated to agents and suppliers at that time.

New price change requests must be held for two consecutive periods. After that point, agents and suppliers can further reduce their supplier price or change it back to the original price.  To support this change, the deadline to submit supplier prices and Wholesale Price Promotion has been extended to April 27th for the effective date, June 7, 2020, Period 3.

We thank you for your continued patience during this challenging time.
