To our Agents and Suppliers,
As we announced earlier this year, Canada and the United Kingdom (U.K.) agreed to a transitional Trade Continuity Agreement (TCA) that replicates much of the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), and is intended to provide continuity of market access between Canada and the U.K. until a permanent free trade agreement is negotiated.
This transitional agreement was ratified and entered into force April 1, 2021. The agreement can be found here. Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) recently announced their implementation of a new tariff treatment per Customs Notice 21-07 dated May 4, 2021 which can be found here.
Please note that declaration forms are submitted annually, and current CETA declarations already submitted for 2021 for U.K. products are still valid until end of the year (December 31, 2021), and no further action is required.
As of today, any new declarations for U.K. products that were not included in CETA declarations already submitted for 2021 will need to be submitted using the new Canada-U.K. TCA declaration form found in the resource section on the vendor website here and emailed to ldbadvnt@bcldb.com.
If you have any questions about the Canada-U.K. TCA declarations, please contact ldbadvnt@bcldb.com or visit Canada-U.K. TCA for more information on the trade agreement.
Similar to the preferential tariff treatment for U.K. products under CETA, there may be a minimal pricing impact to products originating from the U.K. with Canada-U.K. TCA declarations as these products would continue to be duty free. You can use the LDB’s Wholesale pricing calculators (found on the Pricing Information tab at https://Vendor.bcldb.com/) to determine the amount of duty exemption before filling out the form. For additional questions in regards to pricing or the calculator, please contact wholesalepricing@bcldb.com.
Kind regards,
LDB Wholesale Operations
