Plastic PET, Tetra Pak/Drink Box and Drink Pouch Container Type Update

Effective October 19, 2026, the BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) has separated the previously combined PLASTIC PET/TETRA PAK/POUCH container type in its product registration system to align with Encorp’s three distinct container types: Plastic PET, Tetra Pak/Drink Box, and Drink Pouch.

The update aligns with Encorp’s request to separate these container types, and corresponds with the Container Recycling Fee (CRF) rates established by Encorp, which are subject to change on an annual basis.

Encorp’s current CRF rates are:

  • Plastic PET: $0.07

  • Tetra Pak/Drink Box: $0.03

  • Drink Pouch: $0.02

Vendors registering new products can now select one of three distinct container types through the product registration process: Plastic PET, Tetra Pak/Drink Box or Drink Pouch.

Vendors with impacted existing products can submit any resulting price updates through the Wholesale Price Management (WPM) application between October 26 and November 18, 2026, aligned with the Period 10 submission deadline.

Impacted vendors were contacted on September 15 and asked to review their affected SKUs and submit a completed SKU validation template by October 19. If a vendor did not submit a completed SKU validation template by October 19, the LDB will update the container type based on existing product information. Vendors will be notified of any updates made by the LDB on their behalf.

Impacted products will reflect the updated CRF rates in the Period 10 wholesale price effective December 27, 2026.
