The Provincial government recognizes the impact the pandemic is having on businesses across British Columbia, especially the hospitality sector which has been particularly impacted as a result of measures aimed at stopping the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and keeping people safe.
As committed to in Minister Farnworth’s mandate letter, the Provincial government announced today that the hospitality pricing model that was scheduled to expire March 31, 2021 will be made permanent. This means that hospitality operators will be permitted to purchase beer, wine and spirits at the wholesale price set by the BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB), indefinitely.
This change will give the 8,500 pubs, restaurants and other tourism operators in the province certainty and relief as they work to recover and maintain their operations through the pandemic.
Please note, today’s announcement will not change how hospitality licensees purchase their liquor products today. Hospitality customers will continue to receive wholesale prices at point of sale, be it at their servicing BC Liquor Store, WCC Vancouver or WCC Victoria.
The wholesale price list is accessible in the LDB Hospitality Product Catalogue which also hosts a number of online resources designed to support hospitality licensees.
