Important Service Update: Strike Action Continues to Impact LDB and FAQs

We recognize that the continued BC General Employees’ Union (BCGEU) strike action impacting the BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) distribution centres and Head Office is affecting services to customers, vendors and industry partners. This includes temporary service disruptions at the distribution centres in Delta (DDC) and Kamloops (KDC), Wholesale Customer Care Centres (WCC) in Vancouver and Victoria, vendor supply chain services and other cross-functional Head Office support teams.

As previously communicated on September 22, due to the current BCGEU strike action the following services remain impacted:

  • DDC and KDC are unable to receive product, assemble, or ship orders.  As communicated on September 26, full case orders submitted prior to strike action will be fulfilled once operations resume.

  • Appointments at the DCs are cancelled.

  • WCC Vancouver and WCC Victoria are unable to support wholesale customers and phone calls and emails will not be answered.

  • Web Store remains unavailable.

  • WCC Victoria and select BCLIQUOR (BCL) stores are unable to process hospitality orders. A list of impacted BCL stores is available on the LDB website at www.bcldb.com.

The following vendor supply chain related services remain unavailable due to continued strike action impacting the LDB Head Office:

  • Vendor inquiries, product registration approvals, product change requests and allocations.

  • Purchase Orders (POs) and non-stocked wholesale product (NSWP) POs for the DDC and KDC.

  • New product pricing and ad-hoc price change requests submitted in Wholesale Price Management (WPM) application or by email.

  • Importation and clearance processing including casual importation.

  • Enterprise data services (EDS) services.

The following services will continue to the best of our ability; however, there will be delays:

  • Retail Accounting Centre (RAC) orders.

  • Supplier payments.

  • Preauthorized Debits (PAD) for liquor purchases will be unavailable and hospitality customers will be asked to use an alternate method of payment for their purchases.

While we do not know the timing or extent of further strike action, we are committed to keeping customers, vendors and industry partners informed as updates become available. Important notices will continue to be posted on the LDB Wholesale Operations website here at www.wholesale.bcldb.com.
