As shared on May 13, the BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is currently upgrading its customs clearance systems as part of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) initiative to transform the collection of tax and duty for goods imported into Canada.
Today, the LDB completed its Phase 2 systems upgrade for Special Clearance products (such as agent samples), ahead of schedule. This follows the successful Phase 1 systems upgrade for import wine, spirits, and refreshment beverages on May 25.
Timing for Phase 3 of the upgrade concerning import beer is yet to be determined. The LDB will notify stakeholders when a date has been determined.
